The Broadland Exotica mini-album is a response to the discreetly magical charms of the environs The Happy Couple inhabit in a quiet Norfolk village on the edge of a nature reserve and the river Yare. Next door to their house is a Norman round tower church, leading to atmospheric marshland, some 11th century ruins and ultimately, the river.

The picture on the back cover was taken from ‘Smile’, their rowing boat, on a bright spring like day in February, whilst traversing the small broads and secret reedy cuts that hide within this particular meander in the Yare. This trip was inspiration for ‘February Spring’, the closing track on the record.

The Happy Couple describe a quiet place alive with flora/fauna and the ever changing colours of seasonal transformation.

Their music, like the landscape, is bathed in the light of big skies and watery reflections
